As a direct tributary to the 303(d)-listed East Fork Obey River, Wolf Branch contributes to a watershed identified by the EPA for impairments related to heavy metals and sedimentation. Restoration efforts within the Wolf Branch watershed support recovery through targeted ecological improvements. By applying natural channel design and removing impoundments, the project re-established perennial and intermittent streams while enhancing ephemeral waterways.
